Since I started Jiu Jitsu it has always been my goal to transition to MMA. In 2019, after doing a lot of research, I signed with ONE FC. ONE is Asia’s biggest MMA promotion and I always dreamed of one day fighting in Japan. It was and still is my goal to become a ONE FC Champion.
In 2020 the pandemic broke out and the world shut down. This made training extremely difficult but I had my health, my family was ok and those were the main things that concerned me. Late in the year I was given the opportunity to make my MMA debut against a tough veteran in Fan Rong. Entering into the match I believe I had the skill set to win, prepared well but lacked experience. Fan was 13-2 going into the match and although I started off slow was able to finish strong. In the end, I felt I did enough to win but the judges did not feel the same way. My MMA debut did not start the way I had envisioned.
In life things don’t always go our way. I came back to the US more determined then ever, although I did not get the win, the fight wasn’t a total loss as I gained experience and confidence that this was what I was meant to do! In 2021 there have been no fights offered (due to covid) but when the opportunity comes I will be ready! Can’t wait to finish 2021 strong and have a good start to 2022!
