In 2016 my life took a major set back, for the 3rd time in my career I faced an injury that required surgery. Unlike my previous surgeries this one was easily the worst, going into surgery I had many doubts and feared the worse. Luckily I had amazing doctors and with the help of my family and team, who always believed in me, I’m making a recovery. During the months away from the sport I had a lot of time to think about my life, my future and what it is I truly enjoy doing. After talking with my professor, I decided that in addition to competing I also wanted to teach more and give back to the martial art that gave me so much.
This is when he asked me if I would help mentor others with in our association. In truth I never really thought about it but the opportunity to help others succeed and share our Jiu Jitsu was one I couldn’t pass up. Today I am happy to announce I will be starting the Yuri Simoes Association, a sub affiliate of the Caio Terra Association! My first affiliate is Fernando Costa, from Costa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Fernando is a good guy and I look forward to helping him and his school grow!
2017 is just beginning and I’m excited to see where it takes me!
